Sir MV served as the Diwan of Mysore during the period of 1912-1918. In 1955, he was honoured with Bharat Ratna. For his contributions to the public goodness, he was bestowed as Knight Commander, by King George V, during the British Indian Empire. September 15 is celebrated as Engineers day, in his loving memory.
