Advantage of 10 l insertion over spectacle correction in aphakia

It has been shown that the advantages of contact lenses not only outweigh those of spectacles in aphakia, but may prove doubly valuable when the lenses are fitted within a few weeks after surgery. Using trial lenses and contact lens fitting techniques especially designed for the aphakic patient, 50 cases were fitted 5 to 12 weeks after surgery.

A report on these cases, with summary explanation of the technique, is presented herewith in the hope that contact lenses may thus be utilized to eliminate many of the psychological and physiological disadvantages of cataract surgery.
