Bael (Aegle marmelos) has been known to be one of the most important medicinal plants of India since Charak (1500 B.C) [10]. More than 100 phytochemical compounds have been isolated from various parts of the plant, namely phenols, flavonoids, alkaloids, cardiac glycosides, saponins, terpenoids, steroids, and tannins.
