Most of the fishes have gills which helps them to absorb oxygen dissolved in water.
Well not all aquatic animals breath oxygen dissolved in water example:whale(air),turtle (both air and water) ,frog(both air and water) do not breath in water.
Whales frequently comes out of water to breath.
