To know the reaction that takes place you have to know the characteristics of the reactants. Sulfuric acid is, quite obviously, an acid. When in water it dissociates in sulphate and two protons. Ammonia is a base that takes a proton in water, giving ammonium and hydroxide ions. Therefore, we have an acid and a base so the reaction that takes place is an acid-base reaction. The product of this reaction is ammonium sulphate.
