Amritsar and shimla lie on the same latitude but shimla has lower temperature than amritsar .Why? First correct answer will earn a thumbs up ;)

Though both the cities lie on the same latitude ,Shimla is situated on a much bigger altitude. This is the cause of Shimla having lower temperature than Amritsar.
