Question:

An aeroplane takes 3 hours toncovervtge distance of 3600 km.Another aeroplane travels at the same speed which is 100 km per hour less than the first aeroplane.How long will the second aeroplane take to cover the same distance.

Answer:

Speed = distance / Time taken

First plane = 3600 km in 3 hours

= 1200 km / h

(NOTE : The distance travelled by second plane is 100 km less than the first plane per hour )

= 1200 - 100 km

= 1100 km

Second plane = 1100 km / h

Time taken to cover the distance of first plane by the second plane is ,

Time Taken = Distance / Speed

Time taken = 3600 km / 1100 km / h

= 3.27 hours (approx)

Answer :

3.27 hours

Step-by-step explanation :

we know,

       \boxed{\bf Speed=\frac{distance  \ covered}{time \ taken}}

  • An aeroplane takes 3 hours to cover a distance of 3,600 km

    Distance covered = 3600 km

              Time taken = 3 hours

 => Speed of first aeroplane = 3600 km/3 h

                                               = 1200 km/h

  • Another aeroplane travels at a speed which is 100 km per hour less than the first aeroplane.

  => Speed of second aeroplane = (1200 - 100) km/h

                                                       = 1100 km/h

we have to find the time taken to cover the same distance by the second aeroplane.

           Distance covered = 3600 km

               1100 km/h = 3600 km/time taken

               time taken = 3600/1100

              time taken = 36/11

              time taken = 3.27 hours (approximately)

∴ The time taken by the second aeroplane take to cover the same distance = 3.27 hours
