The distance covered from p to q = 8cm
The distance covered later at 90° of pq = 6cm

Using pythagoras theorem

a^2 + b^2 = c^2

(Where a is the first distance covered, b is the second one and c is the resultant displacement )

(8)^2 + (6)^2 = c^2
64 + 36 = c^2
100 = c^2
c = 10

So, the resultant displacement of that ant is 10cm.
