An article on continuing destruction of wild life importance
Answers
Conservation protects our biodiversity and our life support system -air, water, and soil. wildlife conservation is closely related to conservation of natural vegetation. But , various activities of man have caused destruction of natural vegetation and wildlife. some of these include deforestation, overgrazing by animals, forest fires, hunting of animals, development projects, setting of new industries and towns and mining. This has even caused an upset in the natural balance.
As we know that India has a rich variety of flora and fauna. Man has destroyed them to quite an extent. Animals that cannot adjust to the environmental changes , begin to die. As a result, many animals and birds that once existed on the earth, have now perished away. Such species of plants and animals that do not exist now but existed in the past , they are also known as extinct species. for example :- DoDo, black panther etc.
some species of animals are on the verge of extinction as their population has decreased considerably. such species known as endangered species, for example ;- Tiger, leopard etc.
The government has taken various steps to conserve our natural vegetation and wildlife. some of them are :-
★ Social or environmental awareness programmes:- we have an annual festival in our country where trees are planted throughout the country it is " van mahotsav " .
★ Special projects :- these have been launched to protect the endangered species, e.g:- project tiger, project elephant, project rhinos are some of them.
★ National parks :- these are areas where wild animals and natural vegetation are together preserved. almost 96 national parks are there in india. e.g:- kaziranga national park in assam,
Jim Corbett national park in uttarakhand.
★ Bioreserves ;- These refers to large areas where the vegetation wildlife & environment are conserved to preserve the biological diversity. around 14 Bioreserves are there in india.

Answer:
Importance of Conservation of Wildlife
Wildlife refers to the living creatures like birds, fish and animals which are not domesticated by human beings. They may live in forests, deserts, water or snow. Wildlife conservation is necessary to prevent the decreasing population of wildlife and their subsequent extinction which will be catastrophic to life on Earth.
All plants and animals have important roles in the ecosystem. All living organisms play a role in the ecosystem and enable life to exist on Earth. Mankind, animals, birds, plants and microorganisms in the ecosystem co-exist and balance each other.
The system that exists in Nature is designed for all the different species of the world, where each has a role to play without disturbing the others and without upsetting the ecological balance off.
Animals and insects help us to reduce negative impacts on the globe and help us address issues such as global warming, pollution, environmental disturbances, etc. All living beings from the smallest microbes to the largest fish or animal are dependent on each other.
Animals inhale oxygen and exhale carbon dioxide. This carbon dioxide is used by plants to manufacture food in the presence of sunlight. The plants then release oxygen which is vital for survival of all living creatures including mankind.
If the population of animals are reduced, the natural food chain will be disrupted. The delicate balance of nature will be broken. So it is necessary to save animals in order to save plant life and human life.
Because of deforestation animals are losing their habitats and foods to survive. Overfishing and pollution of water are decreasing the population of fish and seabirds. Many animals which were common a few decades are becoming endangered species, on the verge of extinction. Hundreds of animal species had become extinct during our own lifetime.
Let us stop hunting. Let us stop felling trees. Let us plant more trees. Let us protect our forests for animals to live in and allow the endangered species to propagate. We need to protect the habitats of animals and when necessary create wildlife sanctuaries. People should stop buying products made with skins, horns, etc. of animals. A decrease in demand will reduce poaching.
Our world is dying slowly from enrironmental pollution. We cannot save the world without saving both plants and animals. Plants and animals must first be protected to save the world. We must not forget that this world is designed by Nature for human beings, plants and animals to live together.
