Motion is accelerated because the athlete is moving in a circular path therefore continuously changing direction hence though his speed is uniform but due to change in direction velocity is changing at every instance and we know that for bringing a change in velocity force is required therefore the athlete is under acceleration.

motion will be accelerated because here velocity is being change at every point
the reason behind change in velocity is here the direction in circular path is at every point change so the displacement will also get change
and we know that velocity is equal to displacement by time so velocity will also get changed at every point this cause body to accelerate.
