An automobile moving horizontally at a speed of 60 km/h reaches the foot of an inclined smooth plane and the engine is switched off. How much distance does the automobile go up the incline before coming to rest? The inclination of the plane to the horizontal is 40°.

supposing the car is weightless, the acceleration down the slope would be 9.81 sin40= 6.31
then at the foot the speed is 60, the final velocity is 0. 
using the formula
Vf^2=Vi^2 + 2as
0=3600 +12.611s
S=285.5 m
