An element X belongs to third period and second group of the modern periodic table. what its electronic configuration . It is a metal or non-metal.why? write the formula of the compound formed when X reacts with an element

Valency of element =2,8,2
It is a metal because it will lose two electrons to attain stable electronic configuration and it is cation
When it react with any non metal , it will form ionic compound like XCl2
