Explanation:

I am standing at the entrance to my beautiful ancestral home in Kerala. As I enter this home which I can say has been akin to a temple for me, I can’t stop the tears welling up in my eyes. I have lived all my life in this home.

Each corner of this home has a beautiful memory, not only for me but for all my cousins too. Ours is a huge joint family and we’ve lived here all these years as one.

But now the elders have decided that this home will be developed into flats. The decision came up after a lot of thought.

Although it is a fact that this 150-year-old house does need renovation, the thought that this home will be demolished weighs heavy on my heart.

All that I can be grateful for is that once the flats are ready for all of us, we will at least be in close proximity to each other though not under one single roof.
