Answer:

568cm

Step-by-step explanation:

Before we find out the area, we have to split the shape in order to find the area easier.

Looking at the shape, it would be divided into a rectangle and a triangle. Let us name the rectangle A and the triangle B.

For A, we do not need to find the missing number on the right side of the rectangle since we already have the dimensions we need which is 18cm x20cm.

The area of A= LxB

                      =18 x 20

                     =360 cm

For B, in order to find the area of a triangle we have to multiply the Height by the Base over two. However, as you can see, the figure for the base is missing. To find the base we have to add 18cm to the 8cm. The answer to the missing figure is 26cm.

Now we can find the area of B

The area of B=\frac{HxB}{2}

                      =\frac{16x26}{2}

                      =208cm

After finding the areas of A and B, the next thing to do is to add them together.

Total area= A+B

                = 360 cm + 208cm

                = 568cm

N.B:I copied the image and edited it to show what the figure would like if it was split and the missing figures labelled.
