an insect climbs 2 cm up a slippery rod in 1 second and slips down by 1 cm over the next second how many second will the insect take to reach the top of the rod 15 cm high?​ And ans is 27sec but how??

or,

time taken to climb 1 cm = 2 second

so,

Solution : In 1 second an insect climb up 2 cm.

In next second an insect slips by 1 cm.

Total distance covered in 2 seconds is 2-1=1 cm.

We have to find in how many second will the insect take to reach the top of the rod 15 cm high.

i.e. An insect take to climb 1 cm distance = 2 seconds

An insect take to climb 15 cm distance =  seconds

An insect take to climb 15 cm distance = 30 seconds.

Therefore, 30 seconds will the insect take to reach the top of the rod 15 cm high.
