Yes, an object has moved through a distance and it can have zero displacement.

Example:

Suppose if an object 'a' is swimming in a 90 m long pool and it came back to it's initial position so the displacement will be zero :

Displacement= Final position-Initial position.

= 90-90

= 0

Yes , even if an object has moved through a distance, it can have zero displacement.

This can happen if, after moving certain distance, the moving object comes back to its starting position.

For example, an athlete runs along a circular track and after completing one round, comes back to his starting position, then the distance moved by the athlete will be equal to the circumference of a circular track but his displacement will be zero because the straight line distance between his initial and final positions will be zero.
