1st case:-
10 m/s for 5 seconds
s = vt
= 10×5
= 50m
2nd case:-
5 m/s for 10 seconds
s = vt
= 5×10
= 50 m
Average velocity = total distance/total time
= 50+50/5+10
= 100/15
= 6.66 m/s
Hope it helps you ☺

We know that AVERAGE VELOCITY ( say υ ) is given by :
υ = (total displacement)/(total time)
____
#Total displacement
object moves with a uniform speed of 10m/s for 5s , then displacement (S) covered ;
S = 10×5 = 50m
object moves with a uniform speed of 5m/s for 10s, then displacement (s) covered ;
s = 5× 10 = 50m
Total displacement covered= 50+50 = 100m
And Total time taken = 5+10 = 15s
υ = 100/15 = 20/3 m/s
