The new potential energy will be 600 Joule.

Calculation:

It is given that,

Case I

Mass of the object = m

Height upto which object is raised = h (initial height)

Potential energy of the object = 200 J (initial potential energy)

In this case, we can write that,

P.E = mgh

200 = mgh ---- eq. (1)

Case II

Mass of the object = m

New height upto which the object is raised (h') = 3h

New potential energy (P.E') = ?

Now, by applying the formula of potential energy, we can write,

(P.E') = mgh'

(P.E') = mg(3h)

P.E' = 3mgh

From eq. (1), we can write that mgh = 200

Therefore,

P.E' = 3 × 200

P.E' = 600 Joule

Therefore, the new potential energy is the same object of mass 'm' is raised to a height of 3h will be 600 Joule.
