Answer :

Average speed = 12.5 km/h

Average velocity = 0

Explanation :

Average speed :

In first case , object travelled from point A to B and then came back to A.

The distance travelled by it to go from point A to B is 25km.

Time Taken by it to travel 25km is 2hrs.

Now, the object returned to it's place A in 2hrs, which means it covered same distance in same time.

As distance is constant between two points,

Distance travelled by him to return back is 25km.

Time Taken is 2hrs.

__________________________

we know that ,

average \: speed \:  =  \frac{(total \: distance)}{(total \: time \: taken)}

so here,

Total distance = Distance travelled from A to B + Distance travelled from B to A.

= 25km + 25km = 50km

Total time = 2hrs + 2hrs = 4hrs.

  • Average speed = (50/4)

  • Average speed = 12.5 km/h.

Average velocity :

Displacement covered by the object is Zero.

Since, displacement is zero it's Average velocity is also zero ,

As,

avg. \: velocity \:  =  \frac{total \: displacement}{total \: time \: taken}

Here , Displacement is zero As it reached its original point. And it's shortest path to became zero.

Therefore,

Average velocity of the body is zero.

Answer:

Average velocity  =0

(DISPLACEMENT=0)

Average speed = 50/4 km/hr
