Given : Weight of the object placed on the surface of the earth is 10N

To find : Weight of the object placed on the surface of the moon.

Solution: Force of any object is followed by the formula

Force = mass x acceleration

F = m  x a

In the case of the moon,

The acceleration due to gravity (g) on the moon is said to be 1/6th of the acceleration of gravity of the earth.

Therefore, the weight of the object placed on the surface of the moon will be

1/6 x 10N = 1.66N

Hence, the weight of an object on the surface of the moon is 1.66N
