Given:

The molecular formula of Organic compound = C_4H_8O_2

To find:

Compounds A, B and C.

Solution:

  • The given compound has the molecular formula C_4H_8O_2. The name of the compound with the given molecular formula is ethyl acetate.
  • Thus compound A is identified as ethyl acetate.
  • When it is hydrolyzed with dilute sulfuric acid it leads to the formation of the following products:

C_4H_8O_2+H_2SO_4\rightarrow C_4H_8SO_5+H_2O

  • From the above equation, it is identified that the products formed are C_4H_8SO_5 and water.

Conclusion:

  • Thus the compounds formed are as follows:
  1. A - Ethyl acetate
  2. B - C_4H_8SO_5
  3. C - Water
