compound X is ethanol(C2H5OH)
C2H5OH+2(O)------CH3COOH+ H2O
THEREFORE compound Y is ethanoic acid.
It reacts with baking soda to produce brisk effervescence of CO2.
CH3COOH+NaHCO3-----CH3COONa+CO2+H2O
hope it helps u....☺️

Hello..
compound X which is used as an anti freeze the molecular C2H6O . X on oxidation gives compound Y which effervescence with a baking soda
So X is ethanol and Y is ethanoic acid
The chemical equation of reaction is :
CH3 CH2OH -------CH3COOH
HERE KMnO4 is used as a catalyst.
