Study of this bianch started in 1671, when Marcello Malpighi and Nehemiah Grew independently studied the anatomy of vegetable plants. Nehemiah Grew is known as 'Father of plant anatomy'. K.A. Chaudhary is known as 'Father of Indian plant anatomy.

Plant anatomy is the study of the shape, structure, and size of plants. A typical plant body consists of three major vegetative organs: the root, the stem, and the leaf, as well as a set of reproductive parts that include flowers, fruits, and seeds. As a living thing, all of a plant's parts are made up of cells.

Basic parts of most all plants are roots, stems, leaves, flowers, fruits, and seeds.
