Answer:

Answer is ( 0, 2)

Step-by-step explanation:

The given points are A(2,0) and B(-2, 4)

Since, point P lies on axis of Y, hence it's X- coordinate will be zero.

∴ Let coordinates of P are ( 0, y).

As given in the problem,

PA = PB

⟹ \sqrt{(2 - 0 {) }^{2} + ( {0 - y)}^{2}  }    \\  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  =  \sqrt{( - 2 - 0 {)}^{2} +  {(4 - y)}^{2}  }

Squaring both sides,

4 +  {y}^{2}  = 4 + ( {4 - y)}^{2}

⟹ {y}^{2}  = 16 +  {y}^{2}  - 8y

⟹8y = 16

∴ \:  \:  \:  \:  \: y =  \frac{16}{8}  = 2

Hence, the coordinates of P are ( 0, 2).
