It's a very simple concept to understand the usage of 'and'& 'or'.

1) Look if you want to include both the things then we use 'and'.

For example :- Please give me potato and tomato.

It means that you want both potato as well as tomato.

2) Usage of 'or' is completely opposite to that of 'and' here you need only one of the two things .

For example :- please give me potato or tomato.
