Anne had said that she did not plan to let anyone read her. But quite ironically the entire world read her diary. She had been given this diary on her thirteenth birthday. Since Anne’s family was Jewish, in order to save themselves they had to live in hiding. It was during these times she wrote this diary. Finally, her family was captured and transported to a concentration camp where she died of typhoid. Quite miraculously, her father survived and when he came back to Amsterdam. He found Anne’s diary and got it translated. It became very popular and so millions of people read it.
