Given:-

A tin pack of square base with l = 5cm, b = 5cm and h = 12cm

Another container in the shape of a cylinder, with r = 3.5cm and h = 10cm

Required answer:-

Which container has the highest capacity.

Solution:-

First we find the are of the 1st tin pack.

Second, we find the area of the second tin pack.

And, compare them.

Case I

l = 5cm, b = 5cm and h = 12cm

∴ Volume, \sf{v_1} = l × b × h = 5 × 5 × 12 = 300\sf{cm^3}

Case II

r = 3.5cm, h = 10cm

\therefore\sf{Volume,v_2=\pi r^2h=\frac{22}{7}\times 3.5\times3.5\times10=3850cm^3 }

Since, the volume of cylindrical container is more, it has greater capacity by (3850-300=)3550\sf{cm^3}
