Explanation:
“If you tell the truth it becomes a part of your past. If you tell a lie, it becomes a part of your future."
The above given lines have been taken from the story "The Necklace".
The story was about a women named "Matilda".The main story was that Matilda and her husband were from a middle class family but Matilda was very ambitious. She wanted to become very rich very soon. One day they went to a Party given by Ministry of the State.
Matilda borrowed a diamond necklace from her Neighbour. But she lost the necklace in the party. Both Matilda and her husband were worried they did not have courage to face the lady but they both worked very hard for years and then went to the Lady with a huge amount as a reimbursement for the necklace. But the lady laughed and told them that the Necklace was not real. But was artificial.
The story gives us a message that if Matilda and her husband had not borrowed the necklace to fake their social status, their life would not gone upside down.Even if they had lost the necklace but had admitted about it to the Lady earlier then they would have known the reality earlier then they won't have suffered for so many years.
