minority rules with respect to minority rights is vital to a Democratic government .this process allow for citizen to maintain individual rights while following the direction of the majority.. It also allows for the citizens to make changes to the laws as society, the majorities, and the minorities change.

It is important to respect the views of the minority because:
1) In a democratic country, the power shared among different social , linguistic, and religious groups must be equal so that the people do not feel alienated from the govt.
2) When one group is ignored due to its minority , they feel agitated and alienated from their freedom. This might stir up conflicts between the govt. and the minority group.
3) Moreover this might be the reason for the drift between the majority and minority groups leading to riots and violence like in Sri Lanka.
