The two isotopic forms of Chlorine are :-

^{35}_{17}Cl and ^{37}_{17}Cl

Their existence ratio is given , 3 : 1

Therefore ,

There average atomic mass

= \frac{75}{100} × 35 + \frac{25}{100} × 37

= \frac{2625}{100} + \frac{925}{100}

= 26.25 + 9.25

= 35.5 u .

Therefore , the average atomic mass of Chlorine is 35.5 u .

Average atomic mass of chlorine 35 and chlorine 37 ratio of isotopes 3:1

Average atomic mass of Cl =
 \\ \large \sf \frac{35×3+37×1}{3+1} \\ \\ \large \implies \frac{ 105+37}{4} \\ \\ \large \implies \frac{142}{4} \\ \\ \large \implies 35.5
