Michael Dawson thought Sebastian Shultz to be a lifeless character of the game. He did not know Sebastian Shultz existed in reality. He continued playing the game with the hope to win it. He played all the versions and attempted to save Sebastian Shultz as that would help in winning the game. He won the game and saved Sebastian Shultz and later came to know that Sebastian was real.
