Answer:Ans 1) In the absence of green plants, there would not be the pricess o photosynthesis... Besudes, oxygen which is essential for the survival of all living organisms is produced during photosynthesis. Thus, we can say that life would be impossible on the earth in the absence of photosynthesis.

Ans 2) (a) Mushroom belong to the kingdom fungi, which are organisms that grow on dead and decaying matter. Most members of the kingdom fungi are organisms which are saprotropic; i.e., organisms which rely on dead and decaying matter. They are able to break down the matter furrher by secreting a wide variety of enzymes from their mycelium.

Fungi, prefer damp, mist, and shady places; over rotting and decaying wood of trees and animal carcasses. Only a few mushrooms are parastic.

(b) The Sun is the major source of energy for organisms and the ecosystems of which they are a part. Producers, such as plant and algae, use energy from sunlight to make food energy by combining carbon dioxide and water to form organic matter. This process begins the flow of energy through almost all food webs.

(c) The leaves of a plant dies ‘ when ‘ stomata are blocked’.

The leaves of plants consist of stomata which r vry important for the “ process of photosynthesis “ in it. Not only does contain the photosynthesis causing the pigment chlorophyll, but also is responsible for the exchange of gaseous and liquid substances,.

When the stomata of a leaf are blocked, the process if “photosynthesis” stops and so does the gaseous exchange and water vapour exchange. The leaf dies out of suffocation and unavailabilty of food.

(d)Leaves are called the food factory of the plant because it makes food by the process of photosynthesis with the help of raw materials like water and carbon dioxide using sunlight and chlorophyll.

(e) Lichen is a living partnership between a fungus and algae bcoz the algae present in the relationship produces food wheras the fungus presnt in the relationship provides shelter to the entire group.

The alga contains the chlorophyll pigment and there by it is capable of synthesizing food but the fungus does not contain the chlorophyll pigment and so they provide the shelter. They both occur in perfect symbiosis like a single organism itself.

Ans 3)

Some plants eat insects coz the insects falls into the pool of fluid and us consumed by the plant. Pitcher plants are famous for their flesh - eating ways, and they rely on slippery surfaces to trap their prey . It pitcher - shaped traps are made frm rolled up leaves, and secrets nectar from their rims to entice their prey.

Hope this helps you!!!

1. The life would not be possible on the earth in the absence of photosynthesis because the survival of all living organism directly or indirectly depends upon the food made by the plants. Besides oxygen which is essential for the survival of all living organisms is produced during photosynthesis.

2.a) Because it has no chlorophyll to make its own food. So, it grows on dead and decaying matters and take their food from them.

b) During photosynthesis the green plants fix the solar energy into the food. All plants and animals are dependent upon that food and the energy within it. Here, sun is the ultimate source of energy for all.

c) If they are blocked, the leaf won't get any oxygen and will die of suffocation. The leaves of a plants dies when stomata are blocked. When the stomata of a leaf are blocked, the process of photosynthesis stops and the exchange of gases could not takes place as stomata are responsible for respiration.

d) Because it makes food for the plant through the process of photosynthesis. Leaves prepare food through this process and hence, are known as the food factories of plants.

e) Lichen is a ' living partnership ' between a fungus and an alga and this' partnership ' is beneficial to both because the fungus provides shelter, water, and minerals to the algae and in turn, algae provides food which it prepares by photosynthesis.

3. In the case of pitcher plant, they can perform photosynthesis. But do not get the nitrogen from the soil, for this they find the alternative source of nitrogen. So, the plants modify their leaves into a pitcher like structure. In which there is a opening at the top of the pitcher plant that have a leaf which will open and close and inside of the pitcher plant there are downward pointing hairs like structure which prevents the insects to get out of the pitcher and fall into the buttom of the pitcher where the digested enzymes are realesed and provide the nitrogen to the plants.
