All persons are equal before the law. It means that all the people belonging to different caste, class, etc. are equal before the law and no discrimination is done on the basis of these criteria.

It is important in a democracy as democracy is a government of the people. If any person is discrimated on the basis of these criteria, then it is against the notion of the democracy.
