The comparison of the climatic conditions between the "A" and "B"

types of climate are as follows:

Type A climate

  • Type A climate belongs to a tropical climate.
  • Type A climate exists between Tropic of Cancer and Tropic of Capricorn.
  • As far as Type A climate is concerned, the annual range of temperature is very low along with high annual rainfall.
  • There is no dry season
  • It can be further classified into 3 parts-

(i) Af -Tropical wet climate

(ii) Am - Tropical monsoon climate

(iii)Aw - Tropical wet and dry climate.

Type B climate

  • Type B belongs to a sub-tropical climate.
  • Type B climate is found in low or mid-latitudes in the area of sub-tropical high where inversion and subsidence of temperature do not produce any rainfall.
  • As far as Type B climate is concerned, very low rainfall is witnessed which is not adequate for the growth of plants.
  • Here, mid-latitudes are semi-arid or dry.
  • It can be further classified into 2 parts:

(i) Steppe or Semi-arid climate (BS)

(ii) Dessert Climate (BW)
