v. Your friend bought a story book and having read it, sold it to a bookseller
selling secondhand books at a lower price. Is your friend a consumer?

i. Yes. One who buys will not always be a consumer as he may also sell the product or service to another buyer who eventually consumed the product. For instance, a retail dealer buys the product from a wholesale dealer but he is not a consumer as he does not use the product and sells it further.

ii. No. Food is a basic necessity of a living creature so it is not necessary that the food which he or she is having has been bought by him/her.  

iii. Yes. Consumer is one who consumes or uses the product. So if a shopkeeper bus a ready-made shirt for his own use then he will be entitled to be called a consumer.

iv. Yes. Using the library for reading books/journals is a service and the person mentioned in the question has also paid a membership fee which may be considered as the cost incurred in obtaining the services.

v. No. In the first case, when he buys the book and read it, he has used the book so he is a consumer. In the second case, when he sells the book, he will be considered as the seller.
