in this story Maggie who was a bed ridden child needed help and compassion to survive.She was helpless but her patience made the inner feelings of Mrs Thompson that were slumbering in her heart for ten years to come out.This completely changed Mrs Thompson who was a childless woman not of saintly temper.This change brought not only the happiness in Maggie's life but also in Mrs Thompson's life.Moreover,Joe Thompson did not think about himself and brought Maggie home to take care of her due to which dreary corners of his house were filled with sunshine of love.
