The reason behind the rise of antagonism was the “less or no freedom exercised by the nomads”. They were kept conquering and thus had now power of their own to exist freely, that is why the rise of antagonism was seen among the Xiongmu who later established the Dynasty of Xiongmu....

According to sources of ancient Chinese,  the Xiongnu was a tribal confederation of nomadic tribes which, from the 3rd century BC until the end of the 1st century AD, populated the Eastern Steppes.

Explanation:

  • The Xiognu defeated other nomadic tribes violently and frequently killed and forced them into the state of Xiongnu. This gave rise to anto=aginism and resentment amongst the various conquered peoples, combined with some speculation about an heir to the throne, which resulted in  a civil war in the state of Xiongnu, from 60-53 BC.
  • The Xiongu became powerful in northeastern Central Asian steppes, after their previous adversaries, emigrated to Central Asia in the 2nd century BC, based in the region then known as Mongolia. In regions in Inner Mongolia, Siberia,  Xinjiang, Gansu, and the Xiongnu they were also present.
  • Their relations with the neighbouring south-eastern Chinese dynasties were complicated, with periods of "frequent confrontation & intrigue" coupled with "trade", "tribute", & "marriage treaties" (heqin). They established many dynastic States in northern China, such as the  Northern Liang,  Xia, & Zhao Former, during the 16  Kingdoms  as one of the "Five Barbarians".
