Right to information (RTI) was first implemented by the Congress government in 2005. It replaced the replaces the Freedom of information Act, 2002. It was passed by Indian Parliament on 15 June ,2005 and was implemented from 12 October, 2005. The Right to information in India is monitored by Central Information Commission (CIC) working directly under the President of India and State Public Information Officers (SPIOs) at state level headed by the State Governor.
