Answer:

let the speed of car from  a be x and speed of car from  b be y

we know that speed = distance/time

   According given condition 1

           if they went in same  direction

               distance traveled by car a = 9x

              distance traveled by car b be 9y

               9x-9y = 90

                x-y = 10...........(1)

            if they went in opposite directions

                distance traveled by car a = 9/7x

                 distance traveled by car b = 9/7y

               9/7x+9/7y = 90

                 x+y = 90*7/9

                  x+y = 630/9

                  x+y = 70.............( 2)

            substitute (1) and (2)

                   x-y = 70

                   x+y = 10

                     2x = 80

                  x = 40

            put in (1)

                    40-y = 70

                      -y = 70-40= 30

                        -y = 30

the speed of car a is 40 and car be is 30
