Aparticle is projected from the surface of the earth with an intial speed of 4.0 km//s.Find the maximum height attained by the particle. Radius of earth = 6400km g = 9.8 m//s^(2).

Maximum hieght attaines by the particle will be 935.7 km

•) In this case , formula for the height (H) will be ,

H = (u)^2 / (2g - u^2 / R )

Where, u is the initial velocity ,g is the acceleration due to gravity and R is the radius of the Earth .

•) Now ,

H=(4000)^2/[19.6-(4000)^2/64*10^5]

H = 16000000 / 17.1

H = 935672.5m = 935.7 km
