Botanically speaking, true fruit is the one that is formed when ovary (part of flower) ripens. ... In apple, major part of the fruit is formed from thalamusnot from ovary that's the reason why it is called a false fruit . When the fruitsis formed from secondary floral parts other than ovary they are called falsefruits.In some fruits like apple, strawberry,cashew the thalamus also contributes to fruit formation, hence it is a false fruit. ... True fruit – The fruit forms in the ovary of the flower by the process of fertilization and zygote formation iscalled true fruit.
