Area of right angled triangle is 30cm and its hypotenuse is 13cm then fund its smallest side

let the small side be a. then other side is sqrt(169-a^2). area of triangle is 0.5*a*sqrt(169-a^2). equate to 30. we get a quadratic in a^2. Solution of the quadratic is a^2=144 and a^2=25 giving the two sides as 12 and 5. Hence smaller side is 5.
