It is found in the 17th group of the third period. It's Electronic configuration is 2,8,7. Thus it gains an electron to achieve noble gas configuration (hence, it is a non-metal). The reactivity of an element decreases and then increases as we go from left to right in a period. Thus, It is highly reactive, even more than Phosphorus.
