The answer is false.

The initial phases of the artificial pacemakers used nickel cadmium batteries which were rechargeable to a large extent. Lead acid battery was never used in artificial pacemakers.

With the help of micro-electronics, several lives can be saved for reliability and longevity and protection created by pacemakers.

Generally a pacemaker uses not more than half part of its battery to stimulate sensation in the heart of the user.
