The meaning of "as you sow, so you shall reap" is:

if you did bad things in the past, you will get bad results in the future .........

if you did good things in the past, you will get good results in the future....

This is a very well known proverb that is very true in today's world, but that we tend to forget. Let us take the farmer for instance. If he is very careful and particular about sowing, watering, using fertilizers ete. he will get a good crop or else his harvest will not be bountiful.

The real meaning behind this proverb is that results or consequences depend on our action. If we toil and strive hard, if we don't put off for tomorrow what we can do today, only then we can expect to reap good fruits. Good fruits come only after hard labour. We must always be aware that it is the present that makes our future.

We have great people among us who have proved to us that they have worked hard and have been rewarded. Mother Teresa gained the love and adulation of the world because she worked hard and cared for the homeless and the destitutes.

We must put these ideas into the child's mind, that a child must always work hard and strive with tenacity if he wants to excel. It is in our own hands to make or mar our lives. If we sow the seeds of evil, we will get evil in return. If we are virtuous and good, we will reap the harvest of success.
