Both A and R are true and R explains A.

Coal and petroleum are fossil fuels which are formed from the remains of dead organisms after millions of years of buried into the earth.

Fossil fuels are non-renewable but not all non-renewable energy sources are not referred to as fossil fuels.

Coal, crude oil, and natural gas are all considered to be as fossil fuels because these are formed by remains.

The burning of fossil fuels is harmful to the environment on some levels.
