Assertion (A) : Quicklime reacts vigorously with water releasing a larg amount of heart.
Reason (R) : The above chemical reaction is an exothermic reaction.

Both assertion and reason are correct and reason is the correct explanation for assertion. Quick lime on reaction with H2O, liberates energy in form heat and it is sign of exothermic reactions.
