Usually ionic compounds form covalent bond . Due to covalent bonds the intermolecular force of attraction between two oppositely charged atoms is very strong. And therefore large amount of energy is required to overcome that force . Therefore ionic compounds have high melting and boiling points. And tungsten has covalent bond . So it have high melting point to overcome the intermolecular force of attraction between oppositely charged atoms.

Hope it helps !
