Pure nitric acid is colorless, but it can form “red-fuming” nitric acid, which is actually orange in color, if it has some dissolved nitrogen dioxide.

Pure hno3 is colourless but if it has dissolved nitrogen dioxide , it may be orange.(red fuming nitric acid)
