The hands of a clock are inclined at 120° angle at 50 minutes past 5.

• At the time of 50 minutes past 5,the hour hand stays in the inbetween place of 5 and 6. And,the minute hand stays in the place of 10.

• Now, in a span of 30 minutes (5:30 to 6:00) the two hands of the clock make angles of the multiples of 30° (30°,60°,90° and upto 180°). [This applicable only when the minute digit is divisible by 5, eg. 30,35,40,45 and so on]

• In the same way,the angle between the minute hand and the hour hand is 120°,when the time is 5:50. (50 minutes past 5)

Clock are inclined at 125°  for 50 minutes past 5.

Given:

Clock are inclined at 50 minutes past 5.

To find:

At what angle the hands of a clock are inclined at 50 minutes past 5?

Explanation:

There are 60 minute of rotation for 1 complete revolution of clock = 360°

That is For 1 minute = \frac{360}{60} = 6° Rotation

In one hour hour hand moves = \frac{360}{12} = 30°

When Hour hand move one hour then minute hand move 360°

So for 1 minute of hour hand moves = \frac{30}{60} = 0.5°

For "50 minute" minute hand moved = 6 × 50 =300°

For "50 minute" Hour hand moved = 0.5 × 50 = 25°

But hour hand already moved for "5 hour" =  30×5 = 150°

Total hour hand moves fro starting =  150° + 25° = 175°

Angle between these = 300 -175 = 125°

Clock are inclined at 125° for 50 minutes past 5.
